For those of you who don’t already know, I’m horse crazy. I’ve been looking for ways to incorporate equestrian themes into my work without being too Old West tchotchke, and more relatable than Gucci’s golden bits and buckles.
I’m also always looking for ways to tell a story with my jewelry, and preserve a memory. A while ago I figured it out: roll horse hair imprints into metal. Armed with fists full of mane and tail hair from my trainer’s Morgan mare, I’ve been crunching out ways to make it work ever since.
Just in time for the National Western Stock Show, I give you my Lasso necklace. It’s made of sterling silver, brass, and Swarovski crystals, adjustable from 16″ to 19″. $66.
This one-of-a-kind piece is sold, so please let me know if you’d like to order a new one.
I’d LOVE to make something custom with a special equine’s hair.
Stay tuned for more, cowboys.
